A 78-year-old Virginia man who went missing last week was found dead Monday after police pulled a submerged vehicle from the Occoquan River in Lorton, Fairfax County Police said.
The victim, identified as Quang Hang, was last seen Tuesday, Dec. 1 around 4:45 p.m. near the George Washington Memorial Parkway at Slaters Lane in Alexandria, according to police.
Special Operations Division officers recovered the vehicle near the 10700 block of Old Colchester Road on Dec. 8, and found Hang deceased inside, police said.
Investigators said “no foul play is suspected,” and a death investigation is underway.
Hang had been the subject of a statewide search for days. Police previously released his photo and clothing description while asking the public to call 911 with any information.
Fairfax County Police said the investigation remains active, but there is no indication of criminal activity at this time.
"Throughout the investigation, we deployed our detectives, officers, drones, Fairfax 1 helicopter, Real Time Crime Center, and Marine Patrol Unit and issued a Critical Missing Alert," officials said.
"Detectives have been actively conducting ground searches, reviewing video and Flock camera footage, and performing underwater search operations in an effort to locate Mr. Hang."
