Police arrested 27-year-old Andrew Nibbe Friday night for allegedly stealing his coworker's car.

Police received a crash notification from the cellphone of a 36-year-old man in the area of South Douglas Highway and Interstate 90.

They searched the area and found nothing, but then the 36-year-old called 911 and reported his gray 2022 Jeep Compass had been stolen, Police Capt. Eric Vos said.

Police learned that the man and Nibbe, a coworker, had been driving back from an office Christmas party when Nibbe unexpectedly threw a cellphone out of the window. After the man stopped the vehicle to help the coworker to pick up the phone, Nibbe got into the driver’s seat and drove away, leaving the 36-year-old man there.
