AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) — A man has been arrested in connection with a fire that burned down a camper and injured a woman last week in Beech Island.

Michael DeWayne Reece, 37, is facing charges of first-degree arson and first-degree domestic violence, according to the Aiken County Sheriff’s Office.

Amber Nichole Fields, of Swainsboro, was found dead inside her home in the 600 block of North Coleman Street Extension, according to the GBI.

He was arrested in Richmond County and remains in jail while facing extradition to South Carolina.

The fire was reported at 11:28 Thursday in the 100 block of Gladys Court, a U-shaped gravel path off Sand Bar Ferry Road that’s lined with trailers, campers and RVs.
