BOISE, Idaho — A truck hauling an excavator struck the Vinyard Bridge on Interstate 84 near the Kimberly Interchange on Monday morning, closing the bridge and reducing eastbound traffic to a single lane.

The Idaho Transportation Department told KTVB the crash happened around 9:30 a.m. when the truck, which exceeded height restrictions, hit the bridge. Officials said the Vinyard Bridge is 18 feet tall, which is two feet higher than required for signage.

Vinyard Bridge will remain closed until crews determine whether it is structurally sound or needs repairs, according to ITD.
