AUGUSTA, Maine — Democrat Matt Dunlap began his race for the U.S. House in Maine’s more conservative 2nd Congressional District, covering the northern half of the state, before incumbent Rep. Jared Golden bowed out , positioning himself to the left ideologically of the famously party-defying Golden.
“He was often the only Democrat... to vote with Republicans on a score of issues, and that frustrated people,” Dunlap said in an in interview on Monday. "I think more than anything, what people were frustrated by is that he's kind of dark. You couldn't reach him. He didn't go to any events. He didn't even walk in parades anymore."
