TOLEDO, Ohio —
Toledo Public Schools' superintendent says the proposed changes in the district are all about making more with less funding.
"How do we transform ourselves to continue to be innovative and creative? Especially knowing that we have budgeting challenges," Romules Durant said.
There were talks of more than 100 people being laid off from the district, and Durant said any reductions would be started away from the classroom. He said no certified teachers will be impacted by the changes happening at the district. He said where changes could be seen is with nurses.
The district is also proposing a four-day school week, extending school hours to meet state requirements.
