NORMAL ( 25News Now ) - Illinois State University’s football team is seeing real success this year, and on Saturday, upset No. 1 ranked North Dakota State to advance to the FCS playoffs, raising the spirits of Redbirds everywhere.

The Redbirds were unseeded heading into the FCS playoffs. Last week they won against Southeastern Louisiana, and on Saturday, they were expected to lose by 23 points to North Dakota.

During the last three minutes of the game, however, the team unexpectedly scored 15 points, winning by one.

Freshman student Emma Boggs said she goes to every home game, and she thinks the win was surprising, but awesome. She said more people are going to the games this season, and thinks more wins will boost student morale even more.
