ORLANDO — The Pete Alonso free agency sweepstakes is entering a new phase this week at the Winter Meetings.
Alonso is taking a drive from his residence in Tampa to Orlando to meet with teams in person, Mike Puma of the New York Post reported on Monday afternoon.
According to Puma, the Red Sox and Orioles are set to meet with the slugging first baseman. Boston has been linked to Alonso often so far this offseason. Whether the Mets link up with Alonso to talk about a reunion during the Winter Meetings remains to be seen.
Alonso opted out from his contract with the Mets after the conclusion of this past season, entering free agency for the second winter in a row. Last year, Alonso ended up signing a two-year deal worth $54 million to return to Queens shortly before the beginning of
