OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office charged a man with drug trafficking early Monday.
Deputies were conducting a routine patrol around 1:31 a.m. when they observed a car in the parking lot of a closed business on Lakeside Circle near S. Highway 11 and I-85 in Fairplay. The deputy pulled into the parking lot and met the driver, identified as 20-year-old Corban Samuel Vander-Ploeg of Moore, who said he was sleeping in the parking lot.
According to a report, the deputy observed a firearm in the car and detected an odor of marijuana from inside. Upon investigation, the deputy found a sealed package that contained a quantity of THC vapes. Marijuana and two firearms were also found in the car.
