GREEN LAKE, Wis. (WKOW) -- Online jail records show Ryan Borgwardt was released from custody on Dec. 2.

Investigators say Borgwardt faked his drowning on Green Lake in August 2024 to leave his family and meet a woman in the country of Georgia.

He served an 89-day sentence.

According to our Green Bay affiliate WBAY , Borgwardt was ordered to pay $30,000 for the search effort, and court records show that restitution has now been paid in full.
