LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A Lexington businessman is calling on Fayette County Public School bus drivers to slow down after he says he frequently sees buses speeding on New Circle Road.

Gary Vandelinde, who lives near New Circle Road, said he has observed school bus drivers traveling at nearly 70 miles per hour and cutting off other buses.

“Buses are just absolutely racing and speeding,” Vandelinde said.

Vandelinde, a concrete business owner, said this has been an ongoing problem. Convinced the school district and local authorities would do nothing, he hadn’t reported his sightings - until Monday’s reports that a bus tipped on New Circle Road compelled him to speak out.

“They feel like they are immune or obligated to drive in this manner with other people’s kids,” Vandelinde said.
