Kwame Poku dominated Birmingham City conversations in May and June before putting pen-to-paper on a contract at Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers.

Blues appeared to be in the driving seat for Poku’s signature having tracked him for numerous transfer windows and built up a relationship with Peterborough United’s powerbrokers Darragh MacAnthony and Barry Fry.

But Poku and his agent took their time and waited too long for Blues’ liking. By mid-June, BirminghamLive were informed that Blues had moved on from Poku.

Two weeks later the left-footed right-winger – an important component of Blues manager Chris Davies’ tactical set-up that wasn’t acquired until Patrick Roberts arrived on deadline day – signed for QPR.
