An emergency room nurse from Worcester, Massachusetts, was badly injured in a 15-foot fall while on vacation in Costa Rica.

The family of 29-year-old Kiara Diaz says they have tried to bring her home, but her injuries are too extensive.

She and her friends, who are also nurses, take the trip to Costa Rica annually. On Friday, they went out for a final hike, and she fell, fracturing her shoulder and part of her spine.

"It's hard to eat, it's hard to sleep. We're very anxious through all this time," said her brother, Gindember Diaz. "We're paralyzed in a foreign country."
