Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has sold his sports-athleisure brand ONE8 to Bengaluru-based Agilitas Sports, while personally investing ₹40 crore to acquire a minority stake in the company.
Under the agreement, Kohli will hold a stake in the mid single digits range, according to Agilitas co-founder and CEO Abhishek Ganguly. His association with Agilitas will be exclusive, preventing him from endorsing or collaborating with any other sports brand.
The deal transfers ownership of ONE8 to Agilitas, which means a shift from Kohli owning a brand to becoming a stakeholder in the sportswear venture.
The development comes after Kohli earlier ended his long-standing endorsement agreement with global sportswear firm Puma, and the issue seems aimed at consolidating his presence in India’s sports-app
