The U.S. Navy said it recovered an F/A-18F Super Hornet and a MH-60R Seahawk lost from USS Nimitz in two separate incidents in the South China Sea back in October.

The incidents remain under investigation while retrieved aircraft parts are being moved to a specified U.S. military facility in the Indo-Pacific for thorough examination, the Navy said.

The Sea Hawk helicopter and Super Hornet fighter jet had gone down within half an hour of one another while conducting "routine operations" in what analysts called "unusual" crash circumstances.
