The unclaimed body of a U.S. Air Force veteran killed in an October hit-and-run will be buried in a military cemetery.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Dec. 12 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery in Columbia, S.C., for Lester Padgett, 67.
Padgett died Oct. 7 at Wellstar MCG Health Medical Center from injuries after he was hit by a car, according to Augusta Cremation and Funeral Care, which is handling the funeral.
Leaving no immediate family, he was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Varney; his parents; and his aunt.
