SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - The jury trial for the driver accused in a hit-and-run accident that killed an 84-year-old Boston Heights woman, is scheduled to begin Tuesday in Summit County Court of Common Pleas.
Joseph Zolnowski, 36, of Parma, was indicted on the charge of failure to stop after an accident.
According to deputies, Zolnowski struck Elizabeth Rock around 8 p.m. Dec. 17, 2024 in the 9200 block of Olde Eight Rd. in Northfield Center Township and then fled the scene.
Rock had just left St. Barnabus Church, where her five-year-old granddaughter performed in a Christmas concert.
Witnesses rendered first aid until EMS transported her to MetroHealth Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.
Zolnowski turned himself in to deputies the next day.
