PORT HURON, MI — After nearly a month of debate, three meetings, one failed vote and a revival under Rule 14, Port Huron City Council on Monday, Dec. 8, approved changes to its public comment procedures that will require speakers to sign up before meetings and split comment periods between residents and business owners and nonresidents.
The resolution passed 4-3 on Dec. 8, with Mayor Anita Ashford and Councilmembers Barbara Payton and Conrad Haremza voting against the resolution. The changes take effect at the next meeting on Jan. 12, 2026.
