SPRINGFIELD, La. (WAFB) - The American Red Cross has been called to assist a family after an early morning fire in Springfield.
The fire broke out around 2:45 a.m. on Tuesday, December 9, on Barnum Road.
Springfield and Albany firefighters were dispatched to the scene. They quickly began fighting the flames and extinguished them within minutes.
Officials said the residents were home at the time of the fire and noticed smoke and flames before calling 911.
No injuries were reported.
Residents are being urged by officials to check smoke detectors and clean out dryer vents.
