WASHINGTON, D.C. — A portable power bank sold to more than 200,000 consumers has been recalled after federal safety officials said the device’s lithium-ion battery can overheat and ignite, causing fires that have resulted in more than $380,000 in property damage.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced that INIU’s 10,000mAh model BI-B41 power banks, sold online between August 2021 and April 2022, must be taken out of use immediately. The agency said the devices have been linked to 15 overheating incidents, including 11 fires and three minor burn injuries.
The recalled power banks were sold in black or blue and feature the INIU logo and a paw-print LED light on the front. Only units bearing serial numbers 000G21, 000H21, 000I21 and 000L21 are included in the recall,
