Two men killed in separate New Orleans shootings over the weekend were identified by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office Tuesday.
Police have not announced arrests in either shooting.
At around 4:15 p.m. Saturday, 43-year-old Herman A. Jacques was killed and another man was wounded in a Plum Orchard shootout, according to the New Orleans Police Department.
The two men were arguing in the 7200 block of Selma Street when Jacques reportedly pulled out a gun and fired at the other man, who then shot Jacques, police said.
Police have not released more information about the investigation. The Coroner’s Office classified Jacques’ death as a homicide.
About six hours later at 10:48 p.m., 42-year-old Leon Ward was shot in the neck in the 7th Ward, police said.
