YORK, Pa. — The Philadelphia Phillies have made their first big offseason move, agreeing to a new deal with slugger Kyle Schwarber, according to an ESPN report.
The free agent designated hitter's new five-year contract is reportedly worth $150 million, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan, who added the deal is not yet signed.
In a second big announcement on Tuesday, the Phillies said they've agreed to a contract extension with manager Rob Thomson, whose contract will now run through the 2027 season.
Thomson has led the team to four straight National League playoff appearances and one NL pennant since 2022. He has a 346-251 record and a .580 winning percentage during his time in the Phillies' dugout.
