The Mets offered Edwin Diaz a few million dollars less than the Dodgers did.
Before the closer took Los Angeles’ three-year, $69 million contract on Tuesday, the Mets offered three years, $66 million with modest deferrals, The Post’s Joel Sherman reports.
The Mets did express there was wiggle room to go higher before Diaz decided to go coast to coast to join the World Series champs.
The Blue Jays, who lost to the Dodgers in this year’s Fall Classic, were also in on Diaz.
