Garage fire at downtown branch has kept that branch closed, despite earlier expectations for reopening.

The Green Hills Branch Library will close for an indefinite period of time for renovations, making it the second major Nashville Public Library closure following a garage fire at the downtown branch.

Nashville Public Library made the announcement Dec. 9 . The closure will precede the Green Hills branch's first renovation in 25 years starting Jan. 4, 2026. The work will include adding a children’s area and new meeting spaces, a news release said.
