Luigi Mangione returned to court Tuesday as testimony continued in a critical pretrial hearing to determine whether police acting lawfully during his arrest amid a national manhunt following the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson.

Mangione, 27, appeared for the fifth day of a lengthy pretrial hearing in Manhattan Supreme Court. His attorneys are seeking to block prosecutors from using evidence seized during a search following his arrest in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on December 9, 2024—five days after Thompson, 50, was fatally shot as he attended an investor conference in Manhattan.
