The Central Iron County Water Conservancy District aims to reduce pressure on the valley's aquifer with a multimillion-dollar wastewater project at the Cedar City Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility.
The district's General Manager, Paul Monroe, said they've been working with Cedar City on the Effluent Water Capture and Reuse Project for a few years, with Phase 1 currently under construction. It's expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Phase 1 focuses on filtration and treatment using a pile-cloth disc filtration system, according to the district's website . This system will treat effluent water to Type 1 specifications so it can be used within the community.
