Londoners were urged by the capital’s NHS chief to forgo Christmas parties if they have flu -like symptoms to stop the super- virus gripping the city from spreading.
In an interview with the Standard, Dr Chris Streather, the capital’s NHS medical director, stressed that people should make it clear to colleagues, friends and family that it is “anti-social” to turn up to social dos coughing and sneezing.
He also strongly encouraged people to stay at home if they have flu-like symptoms rather than risk passing on the virus to other people on the Tube , trains, buses, as well as in offices and other work places.
Dr Streather is hoping that the flu wave, which has hit London early and is spreading faster due to a new variant , will peak before Christmas .
