A British driver has been left with “stress” and “anxiety” after a council handed him several parking fines for painting a disabled bay around his car, which was parked legally. The motorist had left his car parked on an unrestricted part of the road outside his home in Croydon, South London, before going on holiday. However, the driver came home to a mountain of parking fines after workers for the council painted a new disabled parking bay around his vehicle.
CCTV footage of the act has since emerged on social media, showing the exact moment a contractor arrived to paint the bay on November 17. The worker is seen applying paint to mark out the new space, before cutting to a clip of a traffic warden taking photos of the car and placing a ticket on the windscreen.
