Both the United States and Canada have been busy updating travel advisories in recent days. The U.S. government, in particular, surprised Americans by raising the advisory level for a bucket-list destination .
The Department of State bumped the advisory level for the Republic of Mauritius. The advisory is now at a "Level 2: Exercise Increased Caution." The change was made due to rising crime.
The Department of State explains, "The advisory level was increased to 2. The “crime” indicator was added. Most crimes against foreigners are crimes of opportunity.
