A Pennsylvania Capitol police officer pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor after he took two neighborhood kids to a Cumberland County gas station without their parent’s knowledge and told them not to tell their parents about the trip, court records show.

On July 28, the parents of the 10- and 11-year-old children told Upper Allen Township police they’d learned a man who identified himself as a police officer had taken their children to a Turkey Hill several weeks earlier, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed in September.

That man was Joshua Chilcote, 36, of Mechanicsburg, who has worked for the Pennsylvania Capitol Police since 2024, police said.
