At 2:02 a.m. on Thursday, the National Weather Service issued a lake effect snow warning in effect until Friday at 4 a.m. for Warren and McKean counties.
The weather service says to expect, "Heavy lake effect snow. Additional snow accumulations between 3 and 6 inches, with localized amounts as high as 8 inches in more persistent snow bands. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph causing significant blowing snow and greatly reduced visibility at times."
"Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday morning and evening commutes," explains the weather service. "If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1."
