The Union Health Ministry has informed Rajya Sabha on Tuesday (December 9, 2025) that there is no conclusive data available to establish a direct correlation of death or disease exclusively due to air pollution. Minister of State for Health Prataprao Jadhav said in a written reply that air pollution is one of the triggering factors for respiratory ailments and associated diseases.

“Health effects of air pollution are a synergistic manifestation of factors which include food habits, occupational habits, socio-economic status, medical history, immunity, heredity, etc. of the individuals.
