One person is dead and one is in critical condition after a shooting at Kentucky State University Dec. 9, the Frankfort Police Department confirmed in a Facebook post .

According to the post, a suspect is in custody following a report of an "active aggressor" on KSU's campus around 3:35 p.m. Frankfort Police, KSU Campus Police and the Franklin County's Sheriff's Office have secured the campus, but it remains on lockdown.

Gov. Andy Beshear confirmed a reported shooting at KSU in a post to X around 3:48 p.m. and said he was aware of "some injuries."

Frankfort police updated the Facebook post around 4:35 p.m. to confirm one person had died and one was transported to the hospital in "stable, but critical condition."
