KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The Tennessee Valley Authority has installed a new turbine at Fort Loudoun Dam.
Located on the Tennessee River, the new fixed-blade turbine replaces the original turbine that had been in use since 1943.
It becomes one of Unit Two’s four generating turbines that produces an average of 151 megawatts in the summer.
TVA said the new turbine, which comes in at 375,000 pounds, will “boost reliability and help deliver low-cost energy for decades to come.”
