MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - Memphis Police Chief C.J. Davis spoke at the Public Safety and Civil Justice luncheon held Tuesday afternoon in Raleigh, updating attendees on safety concerns and results from the Memphis Safe Task Force partnership.

Davis told those gathered at the Dwelling Place Christian Church that crime has decreased consistently across all categories over the past 24 months.

“I’ve talked to people on a regular basis—business leaders, community members—and they feel the difference on our roads. They feel the difference in victimization in the city, and so I think the perception is changing,” Davis said.

The chief reported robberies and aggravated assaults are down by 30%.
