Carroll County hit a milestone in the opioid epidemic as the district sees a significant drop in overdoses and deaths.
There were no fatal overdoses in the county in November, officials announced. It marks the first month with no overdose deaths in nearly a decade.
“We keep plugging along,” said Margie Neighoff, a peer recovery coach at the Carroll Hospital Center. “Keep getting the word out there that there’s help. Keep working together in the community — I think that’s a huge part of it.”
Neighoff has been a peer recovery coach since the program launched in 2019. She said her experience on the ground lines up with new overdose data officials announced as “good news.”
