LYON MOUNTAIN, N.Y. (WCAX) - Parents in New York’s North Country are once again asking their school district to change course on its bus stop policy as winter weather is now having an impact on kids and families.
In Lyon Mountain, snow completely covers sidewalks during the winter, making them look like just another snowbank along the road. For kids who have to wait for the school bus in the morning, the snow drifts mean they’re sometimes waiting in the street, raising more concerns for parents already critical of the school bus policy.
“And this is every day,” said Fred Lafountain, a Lyon Mountain parent who says they’ve had to walk their kids roughly a quarter mile to their new bus stop. “Feels like hell.”
