COLUMBUS, Ohio — A Columbus family is grieving the loss of an 11-year-old girl after what police are calling a “non-intentional shooting between family members.”

The Franklin County Coroner’s Office confirmed that Amya Frazier died on Monday after she was shot on Friday. According to the Columbus Division of Police, the shooting happened Friday evening at a house on South Wheatland Avenue.

10TV spoke with Frazier’s family on Tuesday.

“Amya was a great kid. She was outgoing, loveable, sincere. She tried to help anybody. If somebody wanted something done, she just did it,” said Amy Zahrani, Amya’s grandmother.

Zahrani gave some insight into what happened Friday night.
