LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) — Students at Lincoln East High School programmed drones to fly through the cafeteria during Computer Science Week, learning to code the devices to fly by computer.
The students were tasked with getting the drones to fly from one target to another and back. Some successfully got their drones to point B, but many struggled to get the devices to return.
The exercise teaches students coding skills along with problem solving.
“We had to just get around the obstacles if it was, if the drone wasn’t listening to what we were doing. If it wasn’t following our instructions, we just had to reset it, try again and try and make it do what it was supposed to do,” said Beckham Kirk, a ninth grade student at Lincoln East High School.
