COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - More than 100 deaths or serious injuries occur on Columbus roadways each year, according to the latest research.

Car accidents, pedestrian injuries and other factors tied to the city’s streets and sidewalks continue to impact the Fountain City.

In an effort to reduce roadway injuries, the Columbus City Council voted Tuesday unanimously to adopt the “Safe Streets for All” plan.

Project Manager Alex Henry says his team is seeking state and federal funding to implement recommendations aimed at making local roads safer. The plan targets several high-risk corridors, including Milgen, Buena Vista, and Warm Springs roads, among others.
