AUBURN, Ala. (WTVM) - After nearly four years serving downtown Auburn, Whataburger will soon close its doors.
The restaurant’s last day of operation will be Dec. 15, a company spokesperson confirmed.
The popular fast-food chain opened in January 2022 at the busy intersection of North College Street and Magnolia Avenue, initially operating 24 hours a day. Over time, hours were scaled back to weekends for 24-hour service and 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. on weekdays.
“We regularly conduct a business review of our locations to maximize opportunities for growth and keep Whataburger strong in the communities we serve. In a few cases, that means closing restaurants,” a Whataburger spokesperson said.
The company added that team members will have the option to transfer to its nearby Opelika location.
