The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday halted the enforcement of the state government’s recent notification requiring industrial establishments to grant one day of paid menstrual leave every month to all women employees, including permanent, contract and outsourced staff.

Justice Jyoti M passed the interim order while issuing a notice to the government.

The order came during the hearing of petitions filed by the Bangalore Hotels Association and the management of Avirata AFL Connectivity Systems Ltd, who challenged the November 20 notification.
