HILO (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Georgia woman was arrested and charged after allegedly fleeing police in two separate traffic incidents on Hawaii Island last week.

Shelly Turner, 50, was charged with first-degree resisting an order to stop a motor vehicle, second-degree resisting an order to stop a motor vehicle, two counts of excessive speeding, and two counts of reckless driving.

First incident on Daniel K. Inouye Highway

On Thursday, Dec. 4, Hawaii Island police reports say Turner was observed driving an SUV on the Daniel K. Inouye Highway at 96 mph in a posted 60 mph zone and eluded police.

Second incident near Ainaloa roundabout

Later that same day, patrol officers attempted to contact Turner while she was stopped in traffic near the Ainaloa roundabout.
