WAILUKU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A Maui defense attorney is trying to get a manslaughter case thrown out.

His client is accused of a deadly high-speed crash, but he says her rights were violated.

“There are countless times that the government violated Cameron’s rights,” said Cameron Jacobson’s attorney William Sloper.

Judge Kelsey Kawano listened to arguments from the defense and prosecutor Tuesday morning.

Sloper wants Kawano to dismiss the manslaughter case against Jacobson.

Authorities say the 26-year-old was driving approximately 100 miles per hour on Haleakala Highway in Kahului when she struck and killed Koa Hutton, 19, who was ridng a dirtbike.

Sloper said there were multiple violations during the June grand jury proceeding that violated Jacobson’s constitutional rights.
