HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Tenants at Union Plaza say they have been living without electricity for weeks, prompting growing anger and a planned protest outside the home of former landlord Chad Waters.
According to the Honolulu Tenants Union, kūpuna, families, and residents with disabilities have been without power since early October.
Residents say the outage has left them without lighting, refrigeration for food or medication, and other basic necessities.
Organizers describe the situation as both unacceptable and dangerous, saying the shutdown stemmed from overdue utility payments that were never resolved by Waters.
They are calling on city and state officials to intervene immediately and ensure that power is restored.
Protesters plan to gather outside Waters’ home to demand action.
