MUSKEGON, MI - The Muskegon City Commission voted Tuesday, Dec. 9 to approve a land swap and development agreement involving properties on Muskegon Lake.

The decision was approved in a 4-2 vote, with commissioners Katrina Kochin and Destinee Keener voting no. Commissioner Willie German was absent.

The proposed development agreement between the city and West Michigan Dock and Market Corporation (Mart Dock) will see the swap of two properties and a plan for a third, adjacent property to be acquired.

Mart Dock will lease, with an option to purchase, most of Fisherman’s Landing, a city-owned park at 501 E. Western Ave. on Muskegon Lake.

The campground that’s currently there could close after 2026.

Port operations currently near downtown would move further east to the park site.
