QUINCY (WGEM) - Mountain lion sightings have been on the rise in Missouri since the Missouri Department of Conservation started the Large Carnivore Response Team (formally the Mountain Lion Response Team) in 1996.
According to MDC, its specially trained staff have investigated hundreds of reports of mountain lions, but most turn out to be bobcats or large dogs.
The MDC reports that house cats, coyotes, foxes, and deer have also been mistaken for mountain lions.
However, in 2025 five of those reports turned out to be confirmed : Date County Details Oct. 15 Scotland Video taken by game camera.
