SCOTTSDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — The Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board voted Tuesday to close two schools, affecting hundreds of students.

Board members voted 3-2 to shut down Echo Canyon School and Pima Elementary starting in the 2026-2027 school year. Officials cited declining enrollment as the reason for the closures.

Echo Canyon School serves kindergarten through eighth grade, and Pima Elementary enrolls fewer than 300 students.

Another possibility was combining Desert Canyon elementary and middle schools into a more efficient kindergarten through eighth-grade school but that wasn’t decided on.
