A 34-year-old man from Wisconsin was killed after crashed while riding a snow mobile on a trail in Grundy County, resulting in him being ejected.
Around 8:40 p.m. Saturday, authorities say a single-snowmobile crash occurred at the I&M Canal and the viaduct crossing at Nettle Creek in Morris.
The snowmobile rider, later identified as Cody C. Woitekaitis, was approaching the viaduct as he traveled eastbound and he "failed to negotiate the trail," causing him to strike a sign.
He was then ejected from the snowmobile and struck the concrete structure of the viaduct, authorities said. The Grundy County Coroner's Office pronounced him dead at the scene shortly after.
Woitekaitis is a resident of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, authorities said.
