COLLEGE PARK, Ga. — 11Alive has learned that College Park Police Chief Connie Rogers is resigning from her position.

She shared the news with 11Alive's Gilat Melamed late Tuesday night, saying the resignation is effective immediately. It's unclear at this time why she is stepping down.

She was named to the position in 2022 , becoming the first Black woman to hold the title of Chief of Police in College Park.

Rogers began her career with the Cobb County Sheriff's Office, where she worked in the Jail, Court and Warrant Division. Rogers also served as a domestic violence investigator. She joined the College Park Police Department in 2011 and earned several promotions throughout the years.
